I used photobucket for mine, but I think tinyurl or something works too. Anything with a direct link to the picture works, I guess.

Lesson Ten: The Walled City, Part Deux (Wolfblood Variant)Okay, so I was telling Blackout a few things a the other day because I didn't want her to switch her character to BLI one week and flip back the next. That is one of my particular pet peeves mainly because of one thing: Wolfblood. In short, Wolfblood, a BLI project, is fear conditioning. The Killjoy undergoing it is strapped down in a chair facing a monitor and has two IVs plugged into their arms. The chemical in one IV causes pain and the chemical in the other causes euphoria. The monitor plays clips of life in Battery City and of life in the Zones, which trigger the euphoria and the pain, respectively. The clips of each get progressively better or scarier (E.G: a happy couple watching their children play on the swings vs. Killjoys setting fire to houses) as the treatment goes along. The result is a sort of Pavlovian fear of Killjoys: you think of them, you're scared. A problem that I and many other people have had with Wolfblood is the misconception that it causes your character to forget everything about his or her life as a Killjoy. The treatment in and of itself does not remove memories. However, it could very well trigger amnesia. Amnesia, which is usually meant as a loss of recent memories up to a certain point, can be triggered as a defense mechanism. Killjoy in the enemy's lair who is actively undergoing treatment that will make them scared of their friends and allies certainly does need a defense mechanism. Oddly enough, their method of defense involves forgetting that they were ever friends or allies with these people at all. In more scientific terms, amnesia brought on by the psychological trauma would one endure in a Wolfblood session is known as dissociative amnesia. Dissociative amnesiacs can either block the traumatic memory from access, barring some extreme trigger that could bring back some (or possibly all, if you're lucky) of their memories, or lose them temporarily and be confused about things as basic as their identity and go off to make themselves a new one. On Killjoy Transmissions, we have never seen the second type as far as I know, so here is my note for people who repress their character's memories: DO NOT OVERUSE TRIGGERS. Remember, your character is still scared out of their wits of Killjoys. At the best, they are disillusioned about the Killjoy way of life, hate who they once were, and are scared of the Killjoys. Even a former Killjoy who regains his or her memory probably will not go back to their old life. Again, except in unusual circumstances (see Red and Max's predicaments, in which the only person Red cared about was tortured), once a Killjoy is integrated into Battery City society (ESPECIALLY Better Living), there is no going back to the Zones. You will not be an unusual circumstance twice. Learned all the super smart science things I used in this post from here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amnesia#Types_and_causes_of_amnesia because I think Wikipedia is trustworthy, okay? If I got something about Wolfblood wrong, Arson or Red, please tell me so I can fix it.

Thanks for the clarification on Wolfblood. I wasn't around then, so this answers a lot of questions.
Also, hope none of my characters ever have that happen to themselves!

I'm not sure when you mean, exactly, as I am not completely sure I've seen it thoroughly explained while I've been here. This is what I gleaned from some things Arson drew and wrote. I trust her on this.
Wolfblood is an undesirable situation for any Killjoy. But just in case it does, this was written up.

Very well explained Vol, I feel like this thread should be something that new members should be required to read at some point when they first join because it really helps.

That's what I intended. Hopefully, if I got newbies to read it, none of them would do anything wrong. That's the dream and all.

Thanks much, Vol! Good clarifying. And yes, this is almost entirely our personal headcanon, but it's what we're using here so for all intents and purposes it's legit (unless Gerard says otherwise or we have a vote).

I'm going to point things out from years ago and be a lame:
First off, I LOVE the idea of mutated animals because I am such a geek for Fallout references in the danger days setting. But I will gladly concede to having them populate the outer zones where the radiation might be slightly higher (and some form of rad protection is required to explore)
Second, Wolfblood kinda sort reminds me of the Ludovico treatment in A Clockwork Orange. I am glad to know that I am not the only one that's peeved by characters that flipflop from killjoy to bli within a mater of weeks or months. I am all for picking a side and sticking with it. Same with coming and going from the city as you please. Just grinds my gears all ways.
But I do have a question regarding the 'superpowers' thing. My character, Delta, has had modifications made to his very genetic code via retrovirus that accelerates his cell growth factor. This makes his tougher than the average bear, but it doesn't exactly make him invincible. It's more that instead of being laid up for months because of some bad wounds, the downtime takes up a few weeks at most. It's not an active benefit in firefights, because he will go down if you shoot him well enough. He can also regrow limbs and tissue, given time.
He has ways to die if it comes to it, beheading comes to mind first. Explosions...Anything that turns him into a bunch of scattered pieces would be effective.
Buuut if this goes against any rules, I can edit accordingly. I just built this in because he gets into some heady dangerous things.

You just read through this whole thing? I like you already. I think it was based off that sort of brainwashing; I've never seen the whole movie but I've seen bits, and it does look similar. Well, there aren't many Exterminators and they're all badasses. I wouldn't be surprised if BLI gave them some cool stuff. But it seems like if they modified his genes, either they're REALLY advanced in BC or he was selected to be one before birth. I think. Well, I've never exactly had genetic modification, so I'm not the expert. Shrug. But they do have some crazy experiments at BLI. One girl here was given hawk eyes by some mad scientist or other. If Arson says it's bad, it is, but if you want my opinion, it's all good.

I figured crazy experiments was the order of the day. There is post-natal gene therapy. Arson's cool with it though. I don't plan on using it to godmod in future fights or anything.
I just like the idea of him showing up sometime later like 'boo motherfuckers' when they were like 'but I shot you in the face ;;'

That would be funny. Unfortunately, we don't get tons of funny here all that often. It's mostly serious stuff. Shrug.

Hey Vol. I've been on fb a couple of times. Been meaning to get back on the site and all. I've been reading up with this and your rants and I have to say great job. I just brushed up on my RP. Hopefully, pretty soon I'll get back in the game. However, like many of us. I've had 3 characters since the dawn of time (beginning of this site) and one of them has progressed to being a complete psychopath but that's because of his back story to begin with. Just a random statement to let out there. Being out of character is probably his middle name. XP anyways my other guy who I've been playing with alot recently (no pun there please) has memory loss, mmm not from wolfblood. It's an odd story. (I thank you for the link) cause now I know the term for what happened to him. He is gaining his memory back, slowly but surely. Anyways Vol. thanks for the rant, I had it all played out while reading it...if that makes sense. Erm, like a show and I'm the kid sitting in the front of the TV mesmerized with all the pretty pictures and colors and what not. Keep up the good work!
