Of their own volition? You really are new here. *I blink at Grey before continuing.* Unless we capture Killjoys, the only reason they have ever come to Battery City is to try and kidnap some of their repurposed friends. Aside from the Viper crisis a few months ago, anyway. They're called "Killjoys" for a reason. We try to make them happy, but they want no part of it for some reason. *I recall a bit of what one of the Killjoys who savedkidnapped me in the mall said, that what they want is freedom. We have that here...what is wrong with them?*

Yes, Angeline's right. They won't come back unless they think it's worth it to retry their so-called rescue mission. *I steer us to the right, and cross the little kitchenette to the coffee counter so I can pour us some cups.* You know, I wouldn't mind the killjoys if they'd just stay out in the desert and play cowboys and indians until they all died of heat stroke. But they insist on raiding and vandalizing, too, which is a shame.

Don't forget the killing of our coworkers. *I accept a cup of coffee from Vico and add a bit of cream.* I could deal with the people who disagree with our way of life if they disagreed quietly. I'm sure there are those out there that do. But what with the Zone rats killing our patrols and destroying our cities and essentially spitting on everything we've worked for...they deserve whatever they may get.

*I shrug at the venom in Angeline's words* I won't argue with that. Now, then, do either of you have urgent work to do? Because I'd like to stop by a friend's office, but I have no problem bringing you two along. Her name's Sandra, one of our analysts. Perhaps you've met her?

*I have a quick read through my notes and appointments.* Well I'm free for another couple of hours. I belive I saw her at the meeting we had with Orwell, I wouldn't mind meeting her properly. *I smile and grab myself another cup of coffee.* Shall we?

We've been acquainted. I would really love to come, but I still have a lot of work to do. List of damages and what the cost of fixing them is, summary of the events, injury reports...if I had known that this job entailed so much paperwork, I would have rethought it. *I laugh nervously and turn back to my desk.* It's been nice seeing you two, but I really should go....

Oh right, the meeting! *I start to clap a hand to my forehead, but reconsider and take a sip of coffee instead* Stupid of me, of course you know who she is. And Angeline - *I snag the shoulder of her jacket before she gets too far* Don't be silly. There's plenty of time for paperwork later. Get out and meet people! Have a little fun for once!
*She looks far from convinced, and I stand at attention with one hand over my heart* I give you my solemn vow that if Riley tries to give you trouble for it, I'll personally distract him long enough for you to scarper. *Then Rachel walks up, and I look over with a smile* Hello, there! We were just off to see Miss Erikson, assuming she's in her office. Care to join? I hear we're headed out to the Zones soon, so we should enjoy our down time while we can.

((Miss Mahoney, dear, wrong account.))
Well, if we're headed out to the Zones soon, I really need to get finished! I wouldn't want to leave unfinished work behind! I've already met Miss Erickson, and she's a nice girl and all, but I really should finish up my work.... *Vico shows no signs of letting go of me. I sigh.* Do I have to go?

*I grin* Well technically I can't order you to do anything... but yes, yes you do. It'll be an adventure! A rather dull adventure, but an adventure nonetheless! And we're glad to have you along too, Rachel. Shall we, then? *I set down my coffee and start back through the cubicle maze, heading for the elevators*

Apparently, yes, we shall. *I roll my eyes and think of all the work I have to do. What injuries do I know of? A burnt right shoulder for Ms. James, scorched clavicle for Mr. Preston, Ms. Tyler got a piece of glass in her left eye.... I have a few gashes on my stomach that I'll get checked out later, before they start to fester, and my left knee hurts with every step. I hate Killjoys. I quickly take a bottle of pills from my pocket and dry swallow three. Hate is not okay to have. Soon, I am floating on a carpet of bliss, but the stress remains.*

*I check the time and see that there are approximately 60 minutes until Vico and I meet The Oracle. I radio Vico and tell him to meet me down in the lobby in half an hour. I quickly shower and change into a fresh set of clothes, taking a bit more time than usual so it's not so noticeable how tired I am. Before I leave I give myself an insulin shot. Honestly, why is everyone around here so afraid of needles?*

*We're nearly to Sandra's office when I get a transmission from Riley, and pause long enough to confirm the time* Right, then, we've got to get a move on. Just up here!

*i walk back down to the training center ith my gun in hand and head straight for the shooting range, I also have a regular bullet fed gun that I wanted to try out. I walk into the range and grab a lane before loading up the bullet gun and shooting off several rounds. The smell of cordite makes my nose itch and gives me a slight adrenaline rush. I couldn't wait to get back out in the zones*
