*After a few days of observations I choose my team rather selectively, already going over every possible outcome. I am happy to find that many of my unit members would be up to the job but I find that certain ones won't be. I sent the notification out to Morand, Max, Pacis, Mahoney, and a few others yesterday.
I tap my foot against the concrete, listening to it echo in the vacant, concrete parking garage. I stand separate from the group watching them interact or as a few of them don't. I remind myself that I need to work on group trust and bonding more if they are going to work as a team. That will be a good excuse later for explaining Max's death. I hear a door creak and slam so I glance over to see Riley walking out of a stairwell and towards us. I smirk and clap my hands once, saying rather loudly:* Finally, the man of the hour.

*I stand off to one side as usual, watching the others while pretending to stare off into space. I haven't seen a way out of this so far, but you never know what will happen in the Zones. I just wish I knew Red was safe - but as long as she's in the hospital, she'll be okay. And once she's healed she can fend for herself as well as anyone and better than many.*

*i wander around slightly as my old jitteriness and anxiousness returns. I swallow a pill or two and let myself relax from the effects as I look at the rest of the group. I haven't spoken to any of them since the party, and I don't really plan to at the moment. instead I continue to look around and let my thoughts stray a bit until Wilson walks in*

*I'm glad to be called down to the mission. If I hadn't been, I might have stayed in my new apartment the whole day, not even motivated to work. Since the party, I've been feeling too low to come into work, and have taken three mental health days and one day to move into my new Tower apartment. I was one of the very, very few Better Living employees who did not have one until two days before. Currently, I decide to apologize to Mahoney, who is nearby. She accepts my apology quickly, telling me that it's all water under the bridge. I'd talk to her a bit more, but she seems uncomfortable and I edge away from her. I feel bad when I glance to one side and see Max standing off by himself. He must be feeling bad, between being punished and Red being stuck in the hospital. I slowly walk over to him, a smile on my face.* Um, hello. Are you feeling alright?

*I look over when Pacis speaks, suprised that she approached me. Obviously the team as a whole doesn't know Wilson and Orwell's intentions... not that I know them for sure, myself, but at least I have a vague idea. I decide to try to be polite, in the unlikely event it will make a difference later.* I'm fine.

Oh. That's good, then. *I start to feel awkward immediately and look down at my feet, grabbing for any conversation ideas that enter my mind.* Have you seen Red lately? I haven't had a chance to check up on her for a few days. *Oh, well, that was the worst topic I could have possibly chosen. I prepare to retreat quickly before he starts shouting at me.*

*I close my eyes for a moment, then reply as evenly as I can* I saw her recently. She's still recovering.

*I nod at Orwell and walk up to the team, making a point to pretend to include Max* Are you all ready to go? This will be our first mission after the Viper attack. I know you are all up for this and more. Really, this'll be more of a vacation *I smile at them all* So let's get out there are show BLI we are the best protectors of Battery City!

Well, it's good to know that she's still okay. *I smile at him again, still feeling guilty for bringing it up, then turn to Wilson as he passes. I'm eager to get back out into the Zones, and hopefully do something right. I wonder where we'll be going. To pick up a specific nest of Killjoys, or just a routine patrol?*

*I smile slightly when Wilson walks up to us, and I fiddle with my gun a little just flicking the safety on and off, but its more from eagerness to use it again than from being too jittery*

Remember this is simple and easy compared to what we just went through. We lost quite a few agents last week but I want to remind you all that you did really well and I want to see all of you working together. Lets go. *I quickly usher everyone into two vans, myself taking the passenger seat in one and watching Riley get into the other. Within five minutes we are on our way to the zones. I lean back in my seat and stare at the window, contemplating and making sure everything will go correctly as planned.*

*I watch the Zones go by, discreetly pulling out the raygun I was issued upon my release from the hospital. The battery appears to be fully charged, but I don't believe it. Muffling the muzzle with my jacket and my hand, I set it to stun and fire once. It was nearly silent, though I now have scorch marks on my jacket and glove, and my hand is tingling. When I check the battery level again it's dropped down significantly; I don't have more than two or three shots. I sigh and reholster the gun. This makes things more difficult.*

*I drive the other van, leading us to a possible killjoy site. Actually, the site is a known active killjoy site, ensuring chaos and thus an "accidental" Max death. I plan on spreading everyone out as soon as possible, but I'll let Orwell do the honors of killing Max if he so wishes. I remind myself to check on exactly how Red died under the care of Hank when I get back*

*I become more and more excited the farther into the desert we go. It doesn't look like we're actually patrolling and instead going straight to a Killjoy hideout. I remember the last time we raided that hideout up north and I captured Sylvia. I certainly hope that I'll do as well this time, if not better. I check the battery on both of my guns, and they seem fine. My spare is still strapped to my side. This time, I actually feel ready.*

*Back in Battery City I finish up some paperwork in my office and look up special Killjoys of interest that need to be taken care of according to their track records. A few names and their profiles pop up onto the screen from the database and I write down their names and details. I'll have to exterminate these as soon as I can... or I could have riley and this team do it while they're out too.. I continue looking at names and one stands out... I cant get anymore information so I decide to radio Riley*
*rb* Riley dear, I'm searching through my blackbook and I've got a few names here that I just don't even want to deal with at the moment, could you take care of them on your way back? oh and some Milk. Also, I'll there doesn't seem to be a file on Noah Carbon. Why is that? There are reported incidents and associates but no information before the scarecrow attack on miss Sylvia Main.
