*I sit, quietly thinking for a second and listening to the Oracle, meeting his eye contact with a piercing stare of my own. I don't notice the blood on my shirt (not my own) or the dust in my hair. I would, indeed, like to know the subjects the Oracle has mentioned, but I need to establish a base beyond the rumors I have heard of this man. Finally, I ask* Do you, or do you not, also report to the killjoys?

Ah, everyone's most important question. I should have known. *I shake my head at myself and pull my blindfold more firmly over my eyes.* Yes, I do speak with them, but the only time I do not give them false information is when I tell them that their attempts to get into the Tower are useless. I have not conversed with this group. More questions?

*I hold a finger up, indicating APC 5 should wait outside for a few minutes. I'm sure Kettu has a wonderfully angry note for me, but I need to question this man right now*
I'll be honest, I've heard rumors of you before, but nothing so, ah, concrete. What prompted you to come out in the open? And why are you interested in working with unit 8?
*Unpredictable people have never been my forte*

Well, what with all the new security, we couldn't let Killjoys make it to the Tower. I felt like I should give you advance warning. Your unit is the best I have seen in a long time. I think it might be because not all of your employees take their perscription as often as asked. However, they are usually very driven, so if they have anger, they use it before drowning it. Quite nice to watch. *I tilt my head toward the door for a moment.* There's also something to be said about your...interesting group.

*I nod* So, you were offering me information. What is the rest of the company's opinion on unit 8?

Well, everyone knows that your unit does great things, very great. It is a fact that you have brought back more Killjoys in the past six months than most of them do in a year. There are many, however, who are...skeptical of your methods. In addition to capturing and converting the most Killjoys, Unit Eight also takes on the most, with five reclaimed Killjoys out of twenty-four members. There are many of your unit who do not take medication as often as the average citizen, with some who are thoroughly unmedicated. A few members of your unit caused that fiasco at the holiday party, and were the subjects of rumors for three or four days before everyone was medicated enough to forget. However unorthodox Unit Eight is, if there is one person in the entire Tower who ranks their unit above yours, I have yet to hear of it. *I hazard a glance at the guards by the door. One of them is nodding as I speak, obviously agreeing with the sentiments. I'm reminded that I usually demand payment for my information. Perhaps I can extort a few carbons from Wilson later, though I am not exactly confident that I would survive the endeavor.* If you would ask more of me, I would prefer that you sent the guards away. I am completely unarmed, except for my bare hands. If it would make you feel better, Mister Vico over there could tie me to the chair again. I am simply...wary...of revealing information to so many. My usual intelligence sessions are one-on-one.

*I glance at the guard and the camera by the door* As you well know, that is against our policies. The guard here can escort you out. Thank you for your time.
*I get up and pretend to shake The Oracle's hand. I surreptitiously pass a business card to him, with the words 'tomorrow 7 pm, cafe on 5th st' scribbled on the back. I need to know more, but I can't really talk to The Oracle under BLI's watch. Sometimes, to strengthen the system, you must work around it. That is, until I am in charge*
*As The Oracle is escorted out, I signal APC 5 that it is now appropriate to enter. I sit, feeling exhausted*

Oh, no no, thank you for your attention, Mr. Wilson. It has been an honor to help you. *I make an elaborate bow in his direction, glancing down at the paper as I do. I am familiar with the place he is suggesting, the Delphia Café. It is two blocks away from my apartment building, and I often get coffee from there, albeit not as the Oracle. A guard begins to forcibly drag me out of the room, obviously eager to get on with his life. I barely have time to snatch my radio from the computer console before I'm ripped out of the control room and the Tower as a hole and deposited on the street outside.*

*When the Oracle is gone and APC 5 enters the room, I get to my feet and stretch. I hope the repo's message is a quick one; Riley just keeps looking worse and worse, and I'd like to get him out of the public eye before something else goes wrong. I've yet to see the man embarrassed, and I'd like to keep it that way. At least, as far as the unit is concerned. Leaning against the wall, I take my cord back out and start playing with it, dividing my attention between Riley, the repo, and the security screens*

-I walk into the room- Commander Wilson I must apologize for not being more useful. I seem to have over estimated this body. - I bow my head- I will not make the same mistake again. - I hand him the note from Dr. Java. He told me to give you this. May I go I must get this leg fixed.

*I glance at the note and quickly put it in my pocket* By all means, APC5. You performed admirably today.
*APC5 exits and I stare into space for a second, thinking. Finally, I turn to Vico* Is the city on fire?
*I turn on all the monitors in the room and radio the unit, requesting an update*

Is the - what? *Riley's question is completely unexpected, and I miss a beat before smiling again* Yes, it burned to the ground and we're all dead. No, not that I'm aware. Is there a reason it should be?

*rb Wilson* Sir, we managed to incapacitate one of the Killjoys, and are chasing the rest. They're leading us on a wild goose chase, but their car is almost dead. I promise we'll make you proud, sir.

*I listen to Pacis' message. The others don't respond right away, but I know they are rather busy. I consider for a second as I watch the screens. Most of BLI is going about their daily lives, unaware of the violence and destruction the killjoys just caused. Good. BLI's first duty is to keep their citizens carefree and happy, no matter what the cost. There will probably be an additional pill ration today, just in case*
rb: Pacis, come back in ten if you have not caught the killjoys. We've done enough for one day and there are enough prisoners to interrogate as it is.
*I lean back in my chair, setting my radio down on the glass table. I don't want Vico to notice, but I am gathering strength so I can get up to my office*
