Yeah, too long. *I turn back around in my seat, watching for our exit* It's been pretty normal, had a couple close calls, but nothing too major. Not until we got your transmission and the crow started chasing down Angel. We still don't know why they want her, either. *I tap Gear's shoulder and point ahead* Take this next one.

[Funhouse Gear]

*I take the exit, watching for holes in the road. There's still no sign of dracs or Scarecrow* How far away is the motel?

*I look over at the now sleeping killjoy* She doesnt say a lot, does she? *I stare back out the window, longing for my safe lab in my safe city, wondering why I decided to take this assignment on. How do these people know me when I've never even been outside the tower before? How did I come to own a bowling alley? when will I get to go home? Still feeling a bit nervous around killjoys after all the stories that I've heard, I sit and think of the kid beside me and how bad she must have been to attract the whole scarecrow department to pursue her* So you have no clue as to why they want her?

Just a few miles more, Gear. You could send Retro a transmission if you'd like, let her know we're almost there. *I pass my radio to him, still tuned to her frequency*

*to Bunny* No, she's not very talkative. And no, we have no clue. She's young, virtually untrained, and barely knew anything about the killjoy/Battery City conflict until a patrol killed her parents and burned down their house. She barely got out alive, and we've been helping her since then. I just hope we can keep her alive until Scarecrow loses interest...

You think its something to do with the parents? Surely they'd detain her in the city for questioning if thats the case.

Sure. *I pick up the radio*
*rb Retro* Hey, this is Gear, speaking for Arson. We're almost to your motel.

Well, that's what they'd do if they were capable of logical thought processes. But they didn't question the parents, they just ghosted them without warning. And you'd think that if they wanted to question her, they'd just send a couple dracs with a warrant. She's naive enough to go with them if they asked nicely.

*rb* Hey Gear. I'm ready for you all. Just pull behind the motel. There's a boulder that's placed just right that no one should see the vehicle from the road.

Not if they know she's met up with killjoys. Come on, you know that. If she's important enough for the whole dept to be out, they're not gonna take any chances. Not after what happened last time... Policies changed after that

After what time? A lot's gone on lately... and really, how much trouble could a 13 year old cause?

*I keep going until I see the motel, then pull around behind the boulder and get out* Knock knock, anyone home?

*I open the back door, lean on the frame with my arms folded and grin* Well lookie what the cat dragged in.

You really wanna ask me that question hahaha *I try to wake the kid up but she's fast asleep. I get out of the car and take her out of her side. I carry her in to the motel* Where's the nearest bed?

*I glance at the kid then turn.* Folllow me. *I grab a set of keys off the key ring and unlock on of the rooms.* Just lay her on there. Probably the cleanest room I have and it's close enough we can keep an eye on her. Make sure the Crow's don't sneak off with her at night.

Cheers *I carry her in and lay her in the bed and collapse onto the floor next to her. The room is cold but its better than being in the desert all night* I think I'm gonna just stay in here for a little while
