*I stare up at the man kneeling next to me. Though I can no longer see, his presence alone is humbling.* Are you a pilgrim? *I reach my hand out, attempting to reach this man, hopefully his soul is not yet lost.*

*Shit, improv. I need to improvise something to keep this guy talking..* uh... *I take his hand and clasp it tightly.* Yes, I uh... seek to find the way in this... er... lost land of... souls and... stuff... *Maybe a religious philosophy class would have done me some good in college.* What do the... sacrifices mean?

*Calm, I am calm again. But that doesn't mean I am better.
I lick my lips that've gone dry and stand up, pulling the smiley faced hood over my head again so my face was unreadable. I step out of the room and mutter something unimportant. Likely not English. I move to sit on the stage and silently listen in on Aftermath's 'investigation'. I like my handiwork on the zealot's face. I wait with predatory patience...*

*Ooh, the wolf man emerges from his cave. I have to remind myself that I wasn't going to pester him, remember that it might just make him tear my head off, and dig one of my fingermails into my palm in order to make myself stop staring. Hey, I'm a psycho. I'm allowed to think that psychosis is attractive. I turn to watch the interrogation behind me. I would be much better at this than Robot Boy.*

They are offerings to the Four, *I answer, before losing my words for a few seconds.* I will tell you what I told the man from the city. Do not waste your time trying to anticipate our next sacrifice. That holy undertaking will continue until the end regardless. You must... you must seek to understand them as they unfold, and use the - use the scripture to find your way to us. Then, Helena granting, your eyes will be opened.

*I roll my eyes at Aftermath's clumsy attempt at religious fervor, and glance over at Delta when the blinded man finishes talking. It's hard to tell from the Exterminator's blank expression, but I get the impression he isn't hearing anything new. I move a bit closer to Aftermath and the man, speaking over to them without moving into range.* The man from the city is gone. We want to know the way to Helena. When can we expect the next piece of, er, scripture?
*He won't tell us where the killings are or how to prevent them, but maybe he'd at least give us a time frame for one...*

Oh, move over, you two. *I nudge Vico (ha! I remember his name now) out of the way and move around Clanker. He seems like the kind of guy who would shove my nose into my brain without a second thought. I know from experience that it is not the prettiest way to die, and I want to be pretty when I go. I walk up behind the guy with no eyes and lean on the back of his seat.* Sorry about them. They really do have a tendency to ask the wrong questions, especially when they already know that the answer isn't forthcoming. Here, have a better question. The road between all of your little hints...it's a path, right? A pilgrimage? What does it lead to? *My voice is getting a bit high-pitched and loud. I lower it to a quiet mumble.* We're pilgrims headed to an unknown shrine. I'd just love to know whose shrine it is.

*i stand back and watch the others interrogate the blind man. Usually I don't think to interrogate someone until after they're dead, but I suppose they prefer to do things differently here.*

Yes, a path. A path leading to Helena, and to the memory of the Four. Our gods are corporeal, they have walked the earth... they have run 'cross the sands and rid our desert of transgressors. They have shown us the way. We owe them our lives, and so we are bound to them. We send our daggers up to heaven... they shall be recovered... *My voice is lowering steadily in volume, but I don't notice, and if I could have seen anything my vision would be going dark*

You didn't answer me. I asked where it leads. You just told me what I already knew. What are we going to see? *The guy starts fading in strength. Dammit, wolf man. You could have, you know, not pulled out his eyes?* Hey. Come on. You're our only guide here. We're lost and want to be found. Merciful Libra. *This is not working. This is doing the opposite of working. I sink down to the floor and sigh.* Okay, so that didn't work. Before you start kicking faces, I'm sorry I interfered.

...you already know... *my head nods forward.* You will find the shrine... the shrine to the four, and your brethren are waiting... *the rest of my words make sense to me, but by the time they pass my lips they're too garbled to understand*

Right, then. *I really don't think we're going to get anything useful out of the man* Can we just... leave him here? Please? There's no point taking him with us, and we can't treat something like that with Zone medicine. If you have a bleeding heart, we can have Delta call in someone from the city to pick him up. *I'm mostly addressing Aftermath, since he's the one who decides when I jump and how high, so to speak.*

Mailbox. *I grunt, awakening from my stupor, lifting my head from my hands* Send a Killjoy there. I would investigate myself but, that is the one location unknown by any BLI agent. Because if we knew, it would be in ruin by now.

What makes a mailbox so special? *i look at him slightly confused, having only known very little about it and the Fabulous Four.*

It's stuffed with letters of mourning for the dead. They have them all over the place in different guises. A hollowed out tree in Japan, a beaten up recycling bin in old New York, other random things that would blend in and that no one would think to search. A lot of Killjoys go there. If it was under BLi surveillance, that would take in at least 20 of us per day. You can see why it's a secret. *I shrug and look at the dying guy. I think the blood flow from his eye holes is stopping, but I'm no doctor. I'm better at making wounds than sewing them shut.* So we go into infiltration mode. I'm going because I'm the best liar who isn't that guy. *I point one thumb at Vico. I still cannot believe that he went through three fake names before I ended up prying out his real one. Three! Even I don't have that many!*
