*I step off of the small aircraft, and wave goodbye to the drac playing pilot for the day. This was the last favor the head of BLI/NY would do me. It was quite a nice gesture. I am several yards off from the tall central gate of Battery City, formerly L.A. It reminds me of growing up out here, back before the bombs when it was known as Los Angeles, The Angels in spanish.
*I was quite the computer geek growing up. I wasn’t interested in shopping or boys or cheerleading. My main focus was learning basic computer code by the time I graduated Junior High. I knew I would leave after high school before my freshman year was over. My mother didn’t care much about my departure, and my father had passed away long ago. I graduated high school with the highest grade in my classes by a mile.
*I traveled to New York and got into one of the best colleges in the state. My mum and stepdad didn’t care much about me leaving, my all-star baseball-player brother had them content enough. I strived to be a tech guru in the FBI, part of the infamous BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit). I passed my exams with flying colors. The NYPD already had a standing offer for me. I had two Master’s degrees and two Bachelor degrees. My life was turning out okay until all the bombs and war happened. I decided to work as a technical analyst for BLI/NY, but soon realized that my talents would be more useful at the larger base.
Hello old friend! Never thought I’d set foot here. *I murmur, shaking my head. A hot blast of desert wind whips my hair into my face. I quickly pull my wavy locks back and give the city another hard look. I see the pristine tower in the distance. Yes, I think I’ll like it here. The drac at the gate is already expecting me.*
Miss Erickson? *he grunts, reaching for his weapon in case I am not her. I’m wearing a hite trench coat and glasses. Do I LOOK like a killjoy?!*
That’s me! The one and only! *I chuckle nervously, and a wave of relief hits me when he relaxes and puts the gun away. He leads me through the town and leaves me to take care of myself once we reach the Tower. I’ve already spoken with my superior, and my things have already been shipped. Looks like I’m here to stay. BLI, say hello to your new Technical Analyst*
