**THIS IS A NON CANNON THREAD, MEANING IT IS NOT A PART OF THE STORYLINE, OR UNIVERSE**
This thread is for the newbies who are new to the whole roleplaying aspect. It's difficult to get used to and it's OKAY to ask questions! If you have a question on format or anything else, let me know, post it here, ask for an example of how to fight, talk, whatever! We are all here to learn.

Lesson 1: Format
Here in the zones, (and in most other RPs) there is no "right" way to express your actions and such. However, there are WRONG ways, which we will get in to later. Having roleplayed for almost 6 years (nerdy... i know... DON'T JUDGE!) i've seen many formats. The most common being X *y* where X is any form of dialogue and y is the action being performed, surrounded by asterisks to show that this is an action, and not meant to be heard by other people's characters.
Ex.
I am in dire need of sleep. *gets into bed and pulls the covers over himself, then yawns*
Of course, as much dialogue and action as needed can be added. Most posts (once you've become experienced and are comfortable with it) may end up looking complicated such as: X *y* X *y* *y* X X and so forth... It's really quite simple, actually. This is the most common format, but there are others of course such as novel format (writing it out like a story with quotations around spoken word), however, this simple X *y* format will be the most common you will experience here in the Zones.

Lesson 2: Don't be a dick
There are many rules and guidelines and rules here on Killjoy Transmissions, but one rules sums it up, and comes thanks to Sugar Queen, my dear friend. DON'T BE A DICK.
If after you do something to someone, you would feel awkward or weird talking to them, don't do it. It's as simple as that. Don't break people's arms, stab people, shoot people, or kill them without their permission! We are all people on this site, and as such, have plans for our Killjoys, which brings up my next point, stories and threads!
If you're new, and you show up on a thread unannounced... great! That is part of what makes this so fun, are surprises! But don't... i mean DO NOT... fuck with their storyline! If you are going to do anything that would change the flow of the thread, ASK THEM FIRST. Messing with someone's thread is a sure fire way to get smited out here. That being said... if someone asks you to leave their thread... do it. Avoid conflict and move to another one. If you want, talk to the person who asked you to leave and try to work something out if you wish. In the event that you feel you were wrongly told to leave, that is what the moderators are for. Lastly, i must state that we are a family out here. We are all here to have fun and be creative, to share in others' stories and to just go crazy in ways we simply can't in real life. So have fun! Be creative! Go crazy! But above all... be respectful.
Stay tuned for our next lesson in DO'S AND DON'TS IN A STORYLINE

Yeah, I'm not a mod, but I lurk on pretty much every thread here because I have too much time on my hands. I'm not saying talk to me, Arson would explain tons better than I would. But if she's not around and I am, that works out. Welcome again, Tox. :] (So many -ox names...)

*rb* means *Radios Back* It's used when someone's character is physically in another place, but still wishes to respond to a post, such as your bio. Although that doesn't apply here, as this is an information thread, and not one for roleplay. Does that make sense? I think it does... Yea... yea it does... wait... Does it make sense?
