I've always been ambitious, and I've always loved helping people. When I was a little girl I read about the wars and the sickness and the poverty that ails our world, and I dreamed of being able to do something for all those stricken. I went to school to learn about the human psyche; how it is affected by such events and why it might be driven to cause them. I saw more and more evidence that the root cause of all misery is the human mind itself: it's flaws and weaknesses and foolish selfishness. When I graduated I went to work for a small company with a grand hope: to save mankind from itself. It was called Better Living Industries, and although I could have worked elsewhere for better pay, I had found kindred spirits and was truly happy there. As the years passed BLI grew. I began to see the positive influence we were having on those around us. And then the Helium Wars began. They were the ultimate proof of mankind's imperfection, and I would not wish them on anyone. Millions died, and I saw our planet injured irreparably. But out of the ashes rose hope: Better Living Industries stepped forward to heal our broken world and everyone in it.
I'd risen through the ranks of the company and was at the forefront of our expansion. We monopolized nearly every market, from fashion to housing to news and entertainment - and of course, medicine and pharmaceuticals. In the years after the wars, we at BLI have done more than anyone has ever done to advance civilization. We have virtually no hunger or poverty in our cities. Literacy is at 99.4 percent. Cases of depression, alcoholism, and stress-induced illness have dropped to record lows. Our fully-trained police force monitors all our major cities and outlying zones, making crime nearly extinct. Of course, there are those who refuse to see reason. They view our clean white cities with scorn, and claim emotion-moderating medication is somehow blasphemous, as if the natural human mental state is to be desired. They do their best to ruin what we've worked so hard for. But I still hope. The projects I oversee aim not to exterminate these naive rebels, but to educate them. To show them what life can be like in a perfect world, and teach them how to live as productive, happy citizens. Someday they will understand that truly, We Can Fix You.
