((RED, BORROWING YOUR MEDIC CHARACTERS KTHXBAI.))
*After an agonizing hour and a half, I'm done being treated. The gaping holes in my leg have been closed on both sides, and the doctors shoved the muscle back together somehow (they explained the process to me, but it was essentially in one ear and out the other). The slashes on my shoulder are now lines of stitches, as are the deeper wounds that were made by the Vipers with knives before I was even dragged to Basilisk. All the little scratches I accumulated have been disinfected and checked for infections. I've been checked for a concussion twice, and the swelling in my left eye has gone down enough so that I can see out of it, though it happened on its own and not because of something BLI injected into me. The medics walk out of the room and begin to close the door behind them before the female one talks.*
Kaylie: We left you a spare set of clothes. The bloody ones don't look very comfortable, and I'm sure you don't want to be wearing a hospital gown?
Volume: Thanks for the gesture, but I have spare clothes in my...uh...sweet lady of sorrows, where's my backpack?
Kaylie: Oh, right! Sam, didn't we find a bag with one of the straps cut on the street where we landed?
Sam: Yeah, I left it in the helicopter. Why?
Kaylie: Could you get it? Apparently it's hers, and she wants it back.
Sam: I'll go and get it. *leaves*
Volume: Hey, uh...when can I leave? I need to fight! I can hear the gunshots, and every time I do, I start panicking and thinking that it's one of my friends being shot and killed, and-
Kaylie: Oh, you're not leaving just yet. You need to recuperate.
Volume: Do you honestly think that Killjoys EVER get time to recuperate in the desert? Not really. We have to fight to survive. And if you think for one second that I have time NOW, you're sorely mistaken.
Sam: *returns with Volume's backpack* Here you go. A few things might have fallen out but-
Volume: *I snatch the backpack away from the guy and slam the door in their faces. I understand that it's rude, but I'm done arguing with the medic girl. I need to get out of here, and fast, but first I take the time out to make sure that IA's little lighter is still where it's supposed to be. Thankfully, I had hidden it in the strap that didn't get sliced in half, and it's still safe. The spare sets of clothes I remembered bringing were another issue; I realize too late that I was wearing my spare outfit (before BLI took it and, presumably, burned it) and the original one was at Vanity's. I slice up the set of clothes BLI gave me with a knife from my bag until the outfit looks just Killjoy-ish enough for my tastes. I quickly change out of the irritating hospital gown and slip out the door, running down the hallways and to a set of stairs, ignoring the jagged slices of pain that I get every time my bad leg hits the ground and the fact that pretty much every doctor I pass is yelling at me to stay put and be treated. I run to the ground floor (17 floors down. Ouch.) and out into the real world through the garage. Once I see the group of friends and allies, I reduce my pace to a limping walk and shamble up behind them.*
((Switching to Vindicta...sorry, Red. Also, long post for the win.))

Kaylie: *After the killjoy slams the door in our faces I want to stay around and make sure she's ok. Sam pulls me away, telling me another call has come through and we have to get back to the helicopter. I reluctantly let Sam drag me away. I have a feeling she won't be here long and I really hope she survives...*

*I wake up every now and again, but don't regester much thanks to the drugs. I feel warm and numb, as if I am lying in a bathtub that is always warmer than I am. Sometimes I stare at the ceiling tiles for forever... or a moment maybe. I idly watch as doctors and surgeons appear again, their hands turning bloody. I hear the words "surgery" and "bleeding" and I smile when they put a mask over my face. Then I can only hear the flow of oxygen and whatever else is in the artificial air. Soon I drop off again... so warm*

[Incoming from Vindicta P.9]
*I quickly go to the surgery wing of the hospital floor, trusting Orwell to make sure the rest of our unit gets proper treatment. I field radio calls as well, directing the two units who have lost their leaders during the battles*
*I get to OR 16, where Red's surgery has already started. I make sure the computer system is recording her heartbeat and blood pressure and make a note when she twitches. Part of me wants Red to pull through, so much has been invested in her. She's probably one of the strongest teens in the world. Some day I dream there will be a whole team of them...maybe an army, but for now there is only Red*

*I extremely dislike the fact that Max is carrying me. I almost want to refuse but by this point I've completely given up. I just let him jolt me around until they all pile into a helicopter to go back to the tower. Sometime between then and finding myself on yet another gurney do I lose consciousness. This is not healthy. I try to sit up but find my wrist strapped to the side rail. I curse then just lay back down and watch the IV drip before some nice looking nurse tries explaining the concept of laser surgery or something like that. I just roll my eyes, too exhausted to care. I need to know how Red is. As they wheel me down a hall I look around for Dr. Brian but then the anesthesia kicks in and I'm out.*

*I let a nurse check my wounds after Main is wheeled away, ignoring the nurse's scolding for having gone back out so soon. Luckily there are others in worse condition, so I'm left alone after a few minutes and lean against the wall of a hallway, waiting for further orders. My side has started to bother me, so I take a few pain pills and wait to see if they'll do any good.*

*I shrug* Haven't heard anything. There's no reason to update us until they know whether she'll survive, so I'm not expecting news.

*takes a seat near Riley and looks at him* She's a strong one.. that RED girl. I think she'll be ju- uuugh *the pain in my arm returns and makes me twitch a bit*
I think there was poison in those last few shots they got in me. haha.... poison. He always liked that word. *my vision blurs a bit but I force myself to focus it again* so, the vipers?

*I set down my clipboard, forgetting Red while I focus on Aerith. Poison? What? I signal for a nurse to come over and kneel down in front of her, looking into her eyes. They're more dilated than they should be and she looks flushed*
We'll handle the vipers. Aerith, I want you to let yourself be checked out by a doctor. I'll get you your own room and everything. Can you be cooperative. I... the team can't loose anyone else. Red's already got one foot out the door.
*The nurse waits for my signal, not willing to deal with Aerith until that point. Aerith's reputation is well known...*

*I laugh and look at him... all 3 of him... my eyes are starting to lose their control as I lose control of the poison in my body* I'll be fine... my body... my body can heal fast... I just need some coffee... *the nurse looks frightened and Riley's look on his face and words ring in my head*
... Fine. * I get into the wheelchair and salute weakly to riley and laugh*

*It's when Aerith stops fighting that I get really worried. I tell one of my assistants to keep track of Red and go with the nurse to an empty room. We lift her onto the bed, as she has trouble getting out of the wheelchair. As the nurse starts an IV I order the full series of blood tests and make sure they will get done as soon as possible. I make sure she is settled, Aerith is not responding much anymore, and I leave only to find the resident Toxicologist. I drag him back to Aeriths room and then stop myself as he begins to confer with the other doctors*
*I stand by the door, watching them work, and wonder why I am showing favoritism to Aerith. We've know each other longer, true, but I've made it a policy not to have friends, only coworkers*
*I stock down the hall, back to Red's operating room. The surgery lasts for two more hours and then they close up and wheel her back to her room. The surgeon tells me and Dr.Brian about all the areas of internal bleeding they had to stop. Red looks even paler than before, if that is possible, the sewn up lacerations on her forehead and arms standing out like negative marks on a test. The swelling around her right eye has not gone down yet and there is still blood seeping from the wound in her chest*
*Dr. Brian promises to keep me updated. I leave one of my assistants in the room and start checking on the other members of the unit, saving Aerith for last*

(transfer from Lost, found, and lost again) *i run into the medical wing and look frantically for an empty bed. I see one near the back and I run Rachel over to it. I yell for some of my coworkers as I set her down and start inspecting her wound. The shot almost hit her heart, but it's hard to tell the damage it might have done without my equipment* you'll be ok Rachel *i smile weakly at him as a sedative is jabbed into my arm for the second time in a few hours*

*At first it's black. Then there's beeping. I groan, it's so cliché. I open my eyes but quickly shut them at the bright sunlight streaming through the window. After the headache fades I slowly reopen them and look around. White. It's all white. The walls are white, the tiles are white, the sheets are white. Even the hospital gown is white. Unlike last time I keep the IV in and carefully lift up the sheets and peek behind the gown. Even the gauze tightly wrapped around my abdomen is white. I sigh and lean back into the white bed and stare out the window at the white city and the white sun shining in the sky. The hospital is quite now, the chaos sorted out and everyone put where needed. All I can hear is the beeping of my heart on the monitor and the quite murmur of voices in the hall as nurses walk past. It's almost relaxing. The pain is numbed by the steady drip of fluids in the IV and I feel like I've slept for a week. With a slight start I realize I'm content. It's been a long time since I've felt this. I quickly look to the stand beside my bed and grasp the pill bottles. I read the labels and almost let out a sigh of relief; they're normal prescription drugs from before the wars. Orwell kept his promise or is at least making it look like he did. No, he did. I'm me, I'm still me. I try to relax again, pulling the white covers up tight to my chin and rolling onto my good side. With a yawn I slowly close my eyes, drifting back into a quiet sleep.*

[Time Jump! Let's say about 3 days]
*I head down to the Hospital Wing to check on my Unity. At this point I can't really remember what day it is, not that it really matters. I had maybe four hours of sleep over the last 48 hours. Most of my time was spent coordinating relief efforts, putting out fires, and going out with a couple teams to kill off the last of the vipers. The nuke team was still working on disarming the warheads in the old viper camp. It will probably take them the entire week*
*In between I've been checking on my unit. Their conditions have steadily improved, to the point where half of them are already insisting on fieldwork again. Orwell and Aerith were already discharged, but are both on bedrest for the next couple of days. I ordered a new office for Aerith on the same floor as mine and moved her in as soon as possible. Morand and Max are both due to be discharged today, mostly because they'd been fighting with the staff so much. Pacis was supposed to be discharged today as well, but Mahoney needed another day or two*
*Red was an entirely different matter. She would be in for another couple of days, more if the Dr.Brian had his way. The internal bleeding had stopped for the most part and she had been awake a couple of times. For the most part she was nonresponsive, but she was awake. I was eager to try a new accelerated healing drug on her, as soon as she was stable. I also needed to check her reflexes as soon as possible...*
*As I'm thinking I pass by Sylvia Main, or "Retro's" room. The post-BLI woman has proved she still has what it takes to be a BLI agent and I hope she can be persuaded to stay... I move on to a the discharge area, meeting up with Max and Morand*
Ready to go? I'll have you both doing paperwork and basic patrol for the next few days, to satisfy the doctors, but then I'll reinstate you both to full duty. Clear?
