I...I think I'll be okay. The pain relievers will be nice though. *I watch Jump dig through his bag as I start playing with the crystal beads on the rosary around my left wrist. It's a nervous habit that I have when I need to focus on something else.*
I'm ready when you are, doc. *I give him a nervous smile.*

*I smile at her, handing her the pain pills and a glass of water* It'll be quick, I promise. No more than eight stitches.
*I have electric turn around and prepare the needle and suture thread behind her, an old doctor trick. She's very brave, but I can tell this hurts a lot. There's nothing a good doctor hates more than inflicting pain, and I try to go fast, but gentle. I wrap the wound in gauze after we're done*
You did a fantastic job, Electric. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'll need to change the gauze periodically, but it should stop seeping after a couple days. We need to keep it clean, so no itching or scratching. When you're ready you can go downstairs to join the others or rest here.

Thanks Jump. *I can't help but be impressed at the handiwork of Jump's medical skills. My back is starting to feel better, but I can feel already that I'm going to have to fight the urge to not scratch at my bandages.*
I think I'm going to rest if that's okay. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in a few days. *I let out a huge yawn.* If you guys need me to take watch, I can.

*I shake my head* Don't worry about it. We have enough killjoys in our group that we'll be fine. You should rest. We'll send someone up when there's food if you'd like.
*I start packing up my supplies, making sure everything is in its proper position and easily accessible*

*I nod my head in agreement.* All right then. *As I'm watching Jump pack up his things, I realize I left my bike outside, with all my stuff on it.*
Hey Jump? Is there somewhere I should put my bike? I should really grab my things and hide it.

I'm sure we could find a place. Probably just wheel it to the back. I think our van and Poison's car is out front as well, so it really should be fine for the night in case you are worried.
*I finish packing my things and get up to go. It's about time I checked up on my others patients*

*After finishing a can of chili and assuring PB I won't need supper, I leave the kitchen. I'm halfway up the stairs when the downstairs bedroom door opens and Jump walks out, followed by Electric. Electric looks a little paler than she did before, but otherwise good* Hey guys. Everyone's settling down, but if you need anything, I'll be upstairs.

*I give a small wave to Gear.* I'm about to turn in myself for the night. But I'll let you know if something comes up. And Gear, thanks for letting me join up with you guys. I hope I'm not a bother.

*I smile* Not a problem. We'd all welcome any killjoy in need. *I catch myself, remembering the gang in the grocery* Almost any killjoy, anyway. Food's in the kitchen, water's in the well, batteries are in the van. Make yourself at home. Night! *I turn and continue up the stairs, looking forward to lying down. My sore muscles are starting to protest the long day.*

*I say goodnight to Gear and Electric and make my way to the kitchen, flopping down at the kitchen table. I think I'll rest for five before I go find Red for her daily checkup. Then I have to go find Max to change his bandages. That will be... "fun". PB glances up from the stove where he is making some sort of soup. He shows me his latest find, a radio he found in one of the cupboards. I play with the dials, looking for a station, but all I find is static*

*I head outside to grab the rest of my things from my motorbike. It's not much, just my battered knapsack, a bundle of blankets and two saddlebags with the rest of my belongings, which right now is just a few modified MP3 players and remnants of the food I once had. I wheel my bike around to the side of the house, leaning it up against the wood near the porch for the night. As I'm walking back, I can't help but glance across the street. Max isn't sitting across the street anymore, which makes me a bit nervous. I know everyone told me that he's not a Drac anymore, but it still creeps me out in a way I can't describe.*
*I shake the feelings off before I return back to the room Jump had cleaned my injuries in. My bags find their way to the end of the bed on the floor, along with my dusty yellow leather jacket. Looking at it on the floor reminds me that I need to clean it up; there are a few burn marks on the back. I unroll my blankets on the bed, happy that they mostly cover the worn mattress. It'll be nice to sleep on something with support instead of sand tonight. My katanas find a home on the floor next to my bed, close at hand but out of the way so no one trips on them. My blaster joins me in bed, near my head. It's a necessary habit.*
*Before I know it, I'm underneath one of my blankets, lying on my stomach to avoid the bandages on my back. I'm out within minutes.*

*I watch Jump play with the radio* Stell's been quiet lately... I hope she gets back on the air soon...
*I miss Stell. I haven't seen her since the Oregon house, but some how I know she's alive. I ruminate as I stir the soup. There's enough here for days, and it tastes good cold as well as hot. Jump takes his leave, telling me he's going to find Red and Max. I tell him to take our bag and go pick a room as well. He sticks out his tongue, saying something about not being a butler, but takes the bag anyway. Dork.*

*I'm still moving when the sun goes down, walking slow circles around the property and surrounding houses - up one street, down another, past one empty building after the next. There's nothing to do out here, but there's nothing to do inside either and I prefer the open air. I return eventually though, the moon dull above me and long-dead street lamps casting thin shadows across the road. I'll get something to eat and perhaps check on Red before I find somewhere to sleep.*

*I go out to the porch to see Red and Arson on a bench, talking (Red with her notebook, of course). Just then Max walks up. Red noticeably sits up, but I go up to Max before I loose the nerve, not waiting for anyone else to say anything. It's a damn good thing I'm in doctor mode*
Max, I need to redress your wounds. Shall we find a back room?
*I stand my ground to the terrifying man. We both know who would win in a fight, but we also both know I won't stop bothering him until he lets me doing my doctor-thing. In the couple of seconds of silence that pass I notice he has beautiful eyes, dark brown with flecks of gold. How could I have never noticed that before?*

*The medic killjoy is in my way again, and I stay where I am, staring down at him, for several long seconds. I can tell he's nervous but he doesn't back down, and a flicker of a glance at Red tells me she wants me to cooperate. I let out a barely audible sigh, then nod. The door to the downstairs bedroom is closed, so I follow him into the dining room instead. I'm tempted to go straight through to the kitchen and get something to eat but I know he wants me to sit still while he works, so I turn a chair towards the window and sit down, looking out at the street*
