*I start searching through records of BLI turned killjoys. There are about 10 than would have been given maps. I cross-reference these with ones who might be given some type of emeregency code to get into BLI computers or telephones or money dispenseries. A transmission comes through the radio I have hooked up to a speaker across the room. Apparently, a killjoy is running amuck in the tower. I get up, lock my door, and return to the desk. That wouldn't help much, but it's worth a shot.*

*I go back to the video and finally get a clear image of the flash. Someone aparently stuck their gun out and shot at someone across the room. If I can somehow copy the barcode on that gun, I will have our inside worker and this case will be tied up with a pretty little bow. I hear talking as a pair of agents rushes by, knocking on my door. I go to open it and one of them pushes past me.* Uh....hello?

*I glance around the room, checking every corner, before turning back to the startled woman (Erickson).* I'm sorry to disturb you, ma'am, but there's been a security breach. We need to check every room. I'm sure you understand.

*I shake my head, still a little startled, and then muster a small smile.* Not a problem, Miss...?

Pacis, ma'am. Angeline Pacis. *I smile but don't extend my hand to shake. I need to keep going.* I would like to exchange pleasantries, but I'm kind of on a rather tight schedule.*

Well Miss Pacis, don't let me keep you. Nice meeting you. *I open the door for her and smile. She seems fairly nice.*

Likewise, Miss Erickson. *I bow slightly, smile again, and edge out of the door, instantly opening the next door over.*

*I close the door behind her and sit back down, convinced everything is under control. I certainly wouldn't be of much help beating up some desert rat. We techs, we help in more detached ways. Speaking of which, I hope to meet some of the other computer techs, since being an analyst I'm supposed to help them.* Now back to our little BLI double-agent.
*I spend quite awhile fiddling with the zoom and clarity until I get a clear picture of the barcode on the gun. It seems they aimed at someone then shot the camera. I scan the code and enter it into the weapons database. All guns that have been issued to BLI personnel are recorded here. Although the gun could have been stolen, I am willing to bet that is not the case. I find a match. Aha. Interesting. I forward the profile, picture, image from the footage, and weapon record to Vico and sit back. We have our double-crosser. And our little foe definitely had connections with killjoys.*

(From 'More Equal Than Some', pg 21)
*I knock on Sandra's door and step back, waiting for her to open it. I figure that after the break-in, it might not be the best idea to barge into an office. I'd hate to be greeted by a nervous employee with a gun.*

*I open the door and smile at Vico. Good to see a familiar face after trying to follow all of these leads.* How's all that security hoopla? Sounds maddening to me. Come in. *I step out of the doorway, wincing at the mess of files and documents, splayed everywhere and tacked up on walls.*

*I walk into the office after her; looking around at all the papers, I whistle quietly* Quite the collection you've got going here. This wasn't quite what I meant by decorating the office, but hey, to each her own.
*I step to one of the walls, glancing through the printouts as I talk* The security itself is fine, it's the paperwork that'll do your head in. But by all accounts, the Tower's now effectively impenetrable - or at least, impenetrable without detection. Speaking of which, don't forget to keep your employee card on hand at all times. You'll need it to use the elevators - new card swiper and all.
So, *I flick one of the papers, then turn to face Sandra with a smile* What's the news on our insider?

*I chuckle, widening my eyes as I realize I let the mess get alot worse than intended. A bit embarassing, but at least I was doing my work.*
Oh dear, I bet. Things would be so much easier without the dozens of forms you have to fill out every time you make any progress! *I register his question and exhale loudly.*
Our insider? Perhaps you mean insiders. I have been able to identify all of the people involved with the break in and the hacking. It seems the group consisted of a couple former employees, one undercover killjoy, and one crow. *I gesture to the grainy surveillance images and employee photos on one wall.* It seems that these people are all connected, and I can't seem to pinpoint who exactly who stole what or who has what information. I suppose we could simply convict all of them but if the information got out....oh and this agent. Her gun and the gun in the video match. So she got tied into the mix. I'm working on it.

Multiple? *I lean forward to look at the images she indicated* A puzzle, I like it! It's like Clue, but instead of just finding Colonel Mustard in the drawing room with a knife, we have to find each of the people who gave him the knife, unlocked the door, cleared the room, and distracted the other guests. I agree, a blanket conviction would be bad politics. Would you mind typing up a summary? You can present it to Wilson at the upcoming staff meeting.

*I smile at the comparison to Clue. I loved that game.* Sure, I can manage a summary. And...uh, a staff meeting. Present as in, to everyone? *I clasp my hands together, searching for a good response. * Well, after all, I AM accusing two agents, it might not go over well, wouldn't you say? *I do hope he means just giving it to Wilson. I don't want my first impression on some of my coworkers to be that of a blathering idiot.*

*I laugh* No, no, not to everyone. It would be entertaining, I suppose, especially if you worked up to it well, have them guessing which of them are about to be called out. You might even get that dramatic movie playout where the guilty agent suddenly jumps up and races towards the door, only to be tackled by security before he can escape. *I pause, smiling as I imagine the scene, and then shake my head* I was thinking more along the lines of speaking to Wilson either before or after the meeting.
