*I walk over to Vol and take a seat next to her. I put an arm around her and rest my head against her* You gonna be alright? I wouldn't want anything to happen to you.

Well, I'll probably be limping for a while, but do you honestly think something as trivial as this could kill me? I'll be fine in a little while. *I pour some disinfectant on my wound and have to bite my tongue to keep from screaming. A single, pained tear escapes my eye, but I wipe it away quickly with the hand that I'm not using to sew up my ankle.* How about you? You're okay, right?

*I squeeze Vol lightly and smile at her.* I'm fine. I've got you, after all. My only worry is that Heart is going to end up hurting someone. I don't want to be liable for not protecting my students.

You wouldn't be liable for not protecting them. She'd be liable for hurting them. I'll try and help her; if anyone here is experienced in beating insanity, it's me. *I grimace and tie off the thread, pressing the bad foot on the floor to test it out. It sends shooting pains up through my leg and I stop quickly.* Honestly, I didn't expect that this teaching thing would be as hard as it actually is.

I did... i just didn't think we'd get so many wackos... *I lean my head against the wall and sigh* I don't know if I can do this, Vol. I just don't... It's not like leading soldiers. Nothing like it at all....

Then let me handle things. And just relax, alright? You've been getting more and more tense over the past few weeks. *I rest one hand on his shoulder gently and lean into his side.* Everyone just needs attitude adjustments. Might I suggest that you don't try to be sweet to them? Shout at them when you need to. It'll help everyone in the long run. *I tilt my head onto his shoulder.* You can handle it. After all, I'm here to help. You don't have to do it alone. *I pause for a second, formulating a plan.* Tomorrow, I think I'm going to make you relax. All day. I'll handle things for you, and you can sleep in and fix guns and follow me around and do whatever else makes you happy. You deserve that much.

I don't know that you can handle that, Vol... *I sigh again and look at the distant wall in my room. It's covered in guns, both old and new. My eye fixates itself on a rusted Kar98. The only gun i've never actually used.* Of all the guns i own, there's one i've never used, and it's because it's a Nazi gun. I don't think that's very fair, anymore... The gun didn't exactly choose to be a Nazi weapon.

No, it didn't. But it's okay if you don't want to use it. It's your choice, as always. *I follow his gaze to the old-looking gun. It looks out of place among all of IA's lovingly polished and maintained guns and I wonder how I've never noticed it before. Now that I have, it sticks out like a Killjoy in a crowd of civs.* If you're never going to use it, do you think I could try? I've been thinking about trying out real guns for a while. *I take Plague from the holster at my side and look at it with a short sigh.* I mean, this gun's gotten me through a lot. But it's not as if you like rayguns, and me having and using one...that's not really a good thing.

*I think about it for a bit* You know, i'll have to convert it to fire a more common round, but i think it could find some fair use with you. Get it for me, will you? I'll need to strip and clean it... then probably replace the barrel at least...

Or you could teach me how, if you don't want to touch it. *I stand up and limp across the room to the wall, gingerly picking the gun up. Some rust flakes off of it and falls to the floor. As I hold the thing in my hands and stagger back over to Aftermath, I can't help but think that it looks almost sad.* Can you make it work? Not that I doubt you, but...it's not as if it looks very good right now.

I can make it work, sure. Guns are guns. It's mostly wood anyways. Replaceable. The metal is salvageable. I'll just need a new firing pin, most likely, and i can make that. Springs are the only issue. Hopefully this one is still decent.

*radios* Thank you for the update Fire. Just be sure you don't fire too close to the walls. That will end badly for everyone involved.

*I smile when Fire's message comes through. Maybe if she gets more of her aggression out on rats and things, she'll stop being as difficult.* ...I honestly have no idea what you just said. But are you sure you don't want to direct me instead of having to work on it yourself. I can tell you dislike this gun at the very least, if you don't hate it. That'd be why it's the only one in your entire collection that looks like it's survived for decades. *I sit down next to him, still holding onto the forlorn little thing (which is honestly the most absurd thing I've ever thought about a gun).* You can do that cheesy thing where you guide my hand around....
