@nack- yeah, I'm trying to try less anime-esque too right now. It's, like, ingrained in me or something. Don't get me wrong, I love my anime (Cowboy Bebop, Planetes, Yu Yu Hakusho, Gundam Wing, etc.) but I want my own style that's a little more anatomical.

Changing from the "anime" style to a more "realistic" style is about more than detailed noses and smaller eyes, et cetera. I change styles more than most people change underwear, so trust me when I say that.
What it involves is an understanding of the "parts of a face" (or whatever body part you mean) and how they fit together in your head. I'd explain it better, but it's one of those things you have to realize for yourself more than anything. Even if it's not on the conscious level.
Stuff like this is intuitive for me, so I guess I'm lucky with an easier time understanding. :T

EXACTLY, RED. Exactly. That's why I changed in the first place. (Well, that and the fact that Arson told me to.) I still haven't figured that out yet. But eventually, I'll get it. Eventually.
@stell...you need to teach me all you know. You will be my new Art Guru Master and I will learn from you.

eeeeeeehhhhh..... I want a tablet and photoshop sooooo bad. It took me forever to develop a style and even now I'm still altering bits and pieces of it.

Ahaha..I'm a terrible teacher, but I'll give you whatever advice I can, as-needed. I'm far from a master, though. :/

Lately I've been drawing lots of skeletons. Works well for developing my personal style and my work in the paleo lab.

@red - Yeah. I totally agree. I started playing around with other styles at one point, but my art just always winds up as...just my art. Like I have no distinct style, really, even though it fluxuates from totally anime to like slightly realistic. Let's band together! We'll get styles! It shall be a quest!

/Stellar's news report:
An army of Killjoy role-players has amassed on an internet forum in an attempt to define their art styles. Do not attempt to interfere. It must be done./

AN EPIC QUEST. Yes. And Stell and/or Retro and/or Arson can lead us. And we will learn and develop. Probably.
@retro, well, it's really good. So whatever you did is working!

Three cheers for style! When you find it, it will be beautiful--moreso than it is right now. That goes for all of you. <3
